Godalming House

The house had been occupied by the vendor for many years and was due for a sensitive refurbishment and extension to suit the needs for a young family. Moving the laundry and boot room into the redundant garage allowed for the kitchen to be opened up to give double aspect including south facing windows. The garden side extension infilled between previously added parts to improve the aesthetics of the rear elevation and incorporate traditionally detailed french doors and lantern to flood the kitchen and dining area with light, and give direct access to the newly landscaped gardens. Works on site started in summer 2022.

Haslemere House

This 1930’s building on a steeply sloping site was designed by a prominent local architect and the original layout including a small kitchen was unchanged. The brief was to reconfigure and extend the property to provide more generous living space and connection to the garden which is at a lower level. Planning permission has been granted for a side extension allowing views and access to the under utilised lower ground floor which will be converted to provide a large open-plan kitchen/dining and living room with doors to the terrace and extensive garden beyond.  Works commenced on site in summer 2022 and include extensive ground works to make the new kitchen floor level with the garden.

West Meon Barn

This traditional timber framed barn and outbuilding was converted by a developer in the eighties and subsequently adapted to form a large family house and guest annex. The existing layout maximised the number of bedrooms in the main house, but under utilised the outbuilding. The new owners, now downsizing from a large house, wanted to open-up the building and have generously proportioned rooms. By creating additional bedrooms for visiting family members in the annex, the house layout is being transformed to include a large drawing room with a double sided stove to the two storey height dining room with bedroom suites on the first floor. Construction work has commenced on site.

Wey Hill Listed House

This listed farmhouse and had been insensitively extended in the early part of the last century, but there remained scope to increase the size of the property and make alterations and improvements to the original building fabric. The existing small galley kitchen and separate dining room were incompatible with modern family living. The first floor was served by two staircases but did not allow for easy movement throughout from shared circulation space. Permission has been granted  for a stone built extension to replace a late addition lean too, and create a ‘knocked through’ and extended kitchen and dining space opening out to a new terrace in an under-used part of the garden. The first floor layout will be reconfigured to give a large family bathroom and a resolution to the circulation.

Ewhurst Listed Farmhouse

Built in the sixteenth century and extended in stages through to the eighteenth, this grade II listed farmhouse contained unaltered architectural features and fabric, and was considered to be a significant heritage asset. The original ground floor construction had however, been built-on and the level raised over time resulting in a low ceiling level. The building also had not been extended since the introduction of planning law and this presented the opportunity for a significant extension. By demonstrating the benefits to the fabric of installing a replacement lime based breathable floor build-up, permission was granted for a lower floor and for other internal alterations. A large side extension was conceived in the style of a converted traditional farm building connected by a glazed link. The alterations and extension works on site are underway.
